| Way, way back in the 1600’s there was this guy named Rene Descartes. |
| The guy was pretty brilliant. A bold mathematician who discovered analytic geometry, he also came across a neat truism, "I think, therefore I am," that shook up the philosophical world for the next couple of centuries. |
| Also brilliant was a Chinese guy named Chuang Tzu. He lived over 24 centuries ago. His particular deep thinking was trying to figure out how we understand and draw conclusions about the world when our sense of site, sound, touch, taste and smell are often flawed. |
| He wrote a lot of deep thoughts about all this, and so deep were those thoughts that they became a strong foundation for a couple different schools of Buddhism. |
