New York, NY: In December 2003, DLI´s CEO John Cervieri challenged the Company´s engineers with a key strategic decision: convert all the capabilities they could provide customers as a professional service into a non-technical software product that clients could use themselves. Nine months of hard design and development work (as well as late nights and empty pizza boxes), DLI unveiled ScribeStudio.com to the public.

ScribeStudio.com focuses on the growing desire in education and training to create manage-share data and information. As a solution, ScribeStudio.com approaches this challenge as a Web site where customers can a) create online courseware and training Programs; b) manage them in a secure, password-protected web account; and c) share the online programs with their communities through a customized web site created through ScribeStudio.com.

ScribeStudio.com is unique in today´s market. It is one of the first software products for authoring and publishing that 1) does not require a technical education; and 2) is totally located on the web. Customers use DLI´s computers located in DLI´s data centers.

Together, this means that the people who know their content the best can also author it. They no longer need to work through their IT department to put the materials online, nor do they need an outside web design company to help them maintain the web site. In developing Scribe Studio.com, the engineers thought about the lessons they learned from their leading clients. Companies like Merck, Genentech, McGraw-Hill, Citigroup, Berlitz, and Sylvan Learning had each relied on the professional services team for unique, high end, and often complex solutions to their training needs. These market leaders place the highest value on employee training, and demand the highest quality from their partners and vendors.

For example, Version 2.0 of the Authoring side of ScribeStudio was released in November and incorporated user feedback from the Product´s beta release in June 2004.
